BSNL Offer Unlimited 3G Data Plan

To counter competitors, state-run BSNL on 24 Aug 2016 declared a national unlimited 3G mobile data plan for Rs. 1,099 and doubled the data usage limit in some existing plans.


"Due to improvement in network, BSNL has been gaining customers. we are 1st within the industry who provide unlimited 3G for Rs. 1,099 without reduction in speed. this may rejoice [sic] our customers and help them expertise improved BSNL networks," BSNL Chairman and administrator Anupam Shrivastava said.

BSNL uses most number of subscribers in April for a 3rd month during a row, as per data released by telecommunication regulator Trai.

Growth in mobile section in April was LED by BSNL that added 11.39 100000 subscribers followed by Bharti Airtel (9.78 lakh), Aircel (5.72 lakh), Reliance Communications (1.1 lakh), Vodafone (46,600), Quadrant (Videocon group - 25,012) and MTNL (11,591).

To counter non-public telecommunication operators' strategy of dynamic data rates by up to 67 %, BSNL has doubled data usage in Rs. 549 set up for 3G service to 10GB from 5GB.


"The plan has validity of thirty days and is corresponding to 100% increase in data advantages to subscribers," Mr Shrivastava aforesaid.

The telecommunication firm has doubled 3G data usage in Rs. 156 plan to 2GB which can be valid for ten days.

"Last year, BSNL had additionally expedited the client by giving 80 % cheaper voice tariff. By huge reduction in data tariff and introduction of unlimited data STVs (Special Tariff Vouchers), BSNL hopes to serve data customers, primarily the youth section during a far better approach," BSNL Board Director (CM) RK Mittal said.

In July, non-public telecommunication majors - Airtel, Vodafone, and idea - increased data usage limit in a number of their 3G/ 4G plans by up to 67 % to counter threat from Reliance Jio that is providing 90 days free unlimited data and telephone service.
